メルボルン日本人学校は週一回火曜日の放課後に、来豪間もない児童対象のNC(New Comer Club)と英語力が付いた児童対象のEC(English Club)英語クラブの２つの英語クラブを実施しています。今日は本年度最初のNC・ECの日でした。また、希望者に放課後の英語補習授業もありました。
In English club, students were playing a vocabulary game. They had to throw the dice, which determined where the frog landed. Then they had to answer a question. If they answered all the questions correctly, the little frog was safe. If they didn’t, at the end the frog was eaten by the crocodile.
英語クラブでは、子供たちは語彙ゲームをしていました。サイコロを振って、カエルがどこに進むかが決まります。そして止まったところの質問に答えなければなりません。全部の質問に正しく答えることができれば、小さなカエルは無事ですが、もし答えられなかった時は、カエルはワニに食べられてしまいます。子供たちはカエルのためにも一生懸命頑張って答えていました。
The students worked in teams. The teams were given two sets of cards each. One set of cards had sentences with matching pictures.The other set of cards had different pronouns (I, you, he, she, it, we, they). Teams raced to replace the nouns in the sentences with pronoun cards.
ニューカマークラブでは、子供たちはチームで活動していました。まず、各チームに２種類のカードが配られました。1つ目のカードは、文とそれに対応する絵が書かれたカードです。2つ目のカードは、（I, you, he, she, it, we, they）といった異なる代名詞のカードです。チームで文の中の名詞を代名詞のカードに置き換える速さを競いました。子供たちは先生の指示を聞き、楽しそうにカードを動かしていました。それぞれのチームが、一丸となり競争しながらゴールを目指しました。
Some students can participate in extra activities to improve their English skills. This is not compulsory. The students in these photos are practicing making stories based on different situations.
自分の英語力を上達させたい子供たちは、放課後の英語の補習授業に参加しました。いろいろな状況に基づいた絵を見て、物語を自分で作っていました。みんなやる気満々で素晴らしいです。
